As the European Parliament, European Council and member states prepare for fifth round of negotiations on the AI Act this week, three key stumbling blocks remain in the negotiations, MEP Dragoș Tudorache told euronews in an interview.

Tudorache is Vice-President of the Renew Europe Group, the EP’s Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee rapporteur on the AI Act, and also sits on the EP’s foreign affairs committee. He was the Chair of the EP’s Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence in the Digital Age.

A fifth round of trilogue negotiations kicks off tomorrow (24 October) in the EU Council, what do you see as the remaining points of contention?

I see three major blocks in the ongoing negotiations and one connected but less contentious issue.
